The Civil Engineers’ Motorcycling Club (CEMCC)
Otley, in Yorkshire, was the unwitting point of origin for the first CEMCC ride-out on 21 June 2014. Six riders joined the event which was planned and led by Hannah Keighley.
The Club had its inaugural meeting on 16th April 2014 and twelve members signed up to create history, but the existence of the Club was finally endorsed as a result of the first ride. We left Otley at about 9.20am, initially following the B6451 then cutting up Newall Carr Road, passing through Blubberhouses to reach Pateley Bridge in time for a late breakfast. The B6165 then took us East to Knaresborough before finally cutting back down to Poole on the B6161, from where we dispersed at about 1pm.
Congratulations were in order for everyone and very warm thanks to Hannah who set the pace and kept everyone together. No-one was lost, no near misses and all the bikes ran smoothly. The day was crowned with glorious sunshine and views of the breathtaking Yorkshire Dales.
We welcome new members, so please get in touch with the Civil Engineers’ Club Secretary Peter Richardson (email@example.com) if you wish to know more. We also want other ICE Regions to form Chapters of the CEMCC (that is technical motorcycle talk for additional clubs) as our ambition is to have a National Rally within a couple of years – but it is up to you to get organising!!
